Le 11 juin 1970, interprété par The Spinners, écrit par Stevie Wonder, Lee Garrett et Syreeta Wright, "It's A Shame" se classe n°14 au Billboard Hot 100. Ce titre est issu de l'album "2nd Time Around".

Nombreux sont les artistes à avoir repris ou samplé ce titre.
En 1971, Alton Ellis le ré-interprète dans une version reggae.
Et dans l'univers de la black music, c'est Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five qui reprennent ce titre sur l'album The Message (Sugar Hill Records - 1982), puis Monie Love feat. True Image sur l'album Down to Earth (Warner Bros. - 1990) et en 2010, c'est autour de Raphael Saadiq de reprendre ce titre dans une version très proche de l'originale.
